Clyde & Barbara tour New York City (October 2004)
We had an amazing time! Thanks so much to Peter Tschirhart for helping us out at the airport. We wouldn't have made the flight in time without him. That started a wave of good things that continued throughout the whole trip. After taking a limosine to the hotel we registered and found our room on the 34th floor of the New Yorker Ramada Inn facing Madison Square Garden across the street. We then headed for Times Square where we purchased tickets for the Manhattan tour bus for the next day. We then had lunch outside Rockefeller Center. The weather was sunny and mid 20's all week. Then we shopped 5th Avenue for the rest of the day. The tour bus took us through all parts of Manhatten from Greenwich Village, Soho, Tribeca, Battery Park, ChinaTown, Little Italy, and the Lower East Side. We were at the South Street SeaPort and saw the Brooklyn Bridge. We didn't take the Staten Island Ferry out to view the Statue of Liberty from the water, but we did see it and were also throughout the Ground Zero area. The tour was over three hours and was spectacular. We then shopped for the rest of the day. The next day Barbara figures we walked at least sixty city blocks. We went up the eighty-six stories of the Empire State Building. Then we walked all the way North to Central Park where we went into the Plaza Hotel, walked over to Grand Central Station and later on to the Trump Tower where Barbara met George from the Apprentice. By now, we were pretty exhausted so we headed back to the hotel after first spending hours in Macys. We'll just have to go back.
